Notes for Mac Basics and Network Troubleshooting:

     -Basic Operations and Concepts --Proficient in the use of technology. --recognize hardware and software components used to provide access to network resources and know how common peripherals are accessed, controlled, connected, and used effectively and efficiently.

 

Activities we want to be able to do:

1.    Ping an internal and Ping an external IP# (Utilities - Network Utility)

3.    Ping an external domain name (ie: yahoo.com)

4.    Find your Mac’s OS version, speed, and memory (Apple-About this Mac - More info)

5.    Repair disk permissions (Utilities - Disk Utility)

6.    Repair disk from CD (Startup with "C" key held down)

7.    Boot in Target Disk Mode (advanced)

8.    Find out what progam opens these extensions:

     a.    .dmg

     b.    .exe

     c.    .eml

     d.    .wps

     e.    .wav

9.    Open files in an "other" program using the right click.

10.    What’s the shortcut (key strokes) to:

     a.    Open the Utilities

     b.    Connect to a Server

     c.    To Hide most programs

     d.    To find out what apps are running

     e.    To select All

11.    In Network Utility what does en(1) or en(0) stand for?

12.    Create a print job, but stop it before it prints and move it to another printer.

13.    Find a print driver that’s OSX compatible for a Canon IR5070 copier
